New York Society for Ethical Culture: On Circularity, Reciprocity, and Spatulas: Lessons From the Humble Objects All Around Us

Sandra Goldmark, of Barnard College and the Columbia Climate School, explores how the everyday objects in our homes connect us to each other, and to the global system of production and consumption. Drawing from her book, Fixation: How to Have Stuff without Breaking the Planet, and ranging from her experiences backstage in the theatre to repairing thousands of objects in her pop-up repair shops, Goldmark helps us see our “stuff” with fresh eyes and makes a compelling case for a less wasteful and more equitable way forward.
